Agartala: Two days after the murder of Nikunja Barman at Khowai bus stand in West Tripura for objecting to a person driving under influence of liquor, police are yet to arrest anybody.
Both BJP and TMC met Superintendent of Police Jayanta Chakraborty today demanding arrest of the killers and action against the police personnel in front of whom the deceased was lynched.
The leaders alleged that the victim’s family had lodged complaint against the criminals but police initially refused to accept it and later when they registered the case, they unnecessarily harassed the family.
“The intoxicated driver is a CPI-M cadre and involved in several crimes in the area and the party cadres killed Barman(35) as part their long pending conspiracy. Nikunja was a CPI-M man but recently he changed the party and since then they had targeted him, which is known to police too,” said Trinamool Congress leader Arun Bhowmik. (UNI)
