SHILLONG: The BSF troops deployed at Nongjuri, East Khasi Hills seized Bangladeshi Taka 3.4 lakh when an unknown miscreant tried to infiltrate into Indian territory from Bangladesh on Tuesday night.
After soldiers of BSF reached the spot, the Bangladeshi miscreants fled away taking advantage of dense forest and darkness. The BSF party cordoned off the area and recovered the Bangladeshi Taka which was wrapped in a polythene bag. Few months back BSF troops had recovered Taka 10.83 lakh and apprehended three racketeers in Balat, East Khasi Hills. The recovered amount seems to be illegal payment for deal between smugglers.
Meanwhile, in another incident, BSF troops deployed at Gumaghat, South West Khasi Hills, seized huge quantity of logs (87.59 cft) and bamboo worth Rs.93,000 on  Tuesday  night.
