Conrad takes up release of ADC funds with Niti Ayog

SHILLONG: Tura MP Conrad Sangma in a meeting held with Niti Ayog members on Thursday demanded the Government for immediate release of funds meant for the Autonomous District Councils.
Sangma who met Jitender Kumar, Advisor Meghalaya in Niti Ayog raised the issue of delay of releasing of funds meant for the district council which was sanctioned by the Union government in the last financial year. He said that a sum of over Rs 270 crore was released by Government for all autonomous District Councils in Meghalaya in February this year.
However, the Government of Meghalaya has not released those funds to the respective ADCs till date, Sangma said.
Jitender Kumar expressed concern over the delay in releasing these funds to the ADCs and said that the state Government should have released the funds immediately as these are tied funds meant for the ADCs. Kumar has assured that immediate action will be taken in this regard from the Niti Ayog and the state Government will be urged to release the fund at the earliest.
