SHILLONG: A cadre of the Liberation of Achik Elite Force (LAEF) based in Goalpara was arrested by the army on Saturday.
An army statement said on Sunday that based on specific inputs from Military Intelligence, the Indian Army and Assam Police launched an operation in Goalpara district. The Army was informed regarding the suspicious movement of the cadre of LAEF in the area of Deuripara, near Goalpara.
The team reacted swiftly and apprehended the cadre. He has been identified as Suparo Swargyari. He joined the LAEF in 2014 and has been active in carrying out subversive activities since then. One 7.65 mm pistol has been recovered from the terrorist along with some ammunition.
