Rs 130 crore sanctioned for KHADC, Rs 100 crore for GHADC and Rs 40 crore for JHADC
SHILLONG: National People’s Party (NPP) president and Tura MP Conrad Sangma has asked the State Government to immediately release the pending amount of Rs 270 crore sanctioned by the Centre for the three autonomous district councils in Meghalaya along with the “interest amount”.
Talking to media persons here on Monday, Sangma said that though the Central Government released the funds in February this year, the State Government was holding on to it for five months now.
According to Sangma, an amount of Rs 100 crore has been sanctioned for the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) while Rs 130 crore has been kept aside for the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and another Rs 40 crore is meant for the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
“Such delays were not heard of earlier as the Finance department used to release the amount to the respective district councils within 15 days,” the Tura MP pointed out.
Conrad Sangma also informed that the Centre was in the process of releasing another Rs 100 crore for the three autonomous district councils of the State.
It may be mentioned that the NPP has already raised the matter with the Advisor of Niti Aayog.
