Interim stay against sugar bidding

SHILLONG:  The High Court of Meghalaya in an interim stay has asked the government not to issue any order to supply sugar to any of the bidders till the counter affidavit is filed and the matter is heard on preliminary issue.
The interim order was issued on May 25. The matter will come up for hearing on Tuesday.
Earlier, after P. Bhattacharjee, counsel for the petitioner who was the lowest bidder appeared, the Court issued notice to the respondents to show cause as to why the instant petition should not be considered or any other order or orders should not be passed as found deemed fit and proper.
Since  S. Sen Gupta, government advocate accepted the notice on behalf of the State, no formal notice was  called for.

” In the meantime as an interim measure the respondent is directed not to issue the supply order to any of the bidders till the counter affidavit is filed and the matter is heard on preliminary issue, whether on technical grounds the tender of the petitioner can be rejected or not”, the Court observed.
