SHILLONG:  The Congress High Command is yet to fix a date for the visit of the AICC general secretary in-charge Meghalaya CP Joshi to Shillong to discuss the issue of dissidence while the state Congress leaders, Mukul Sangma, DD Lapang, Vincent Pala and Deborah Marak have returned to the state capital after their brief stay in Delhi recently.
While the message of Joshi to the state Congress leaders who met him in Delhi was to ensure unity, the Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi had expressed displeasure over the dwindling vote share of the Congress in Meghalaya.
However, the core issue of demand for change of leadership by the dissidents is yet to be addressed by the High Command.
A Congress legislator said that the issue of leadership will linger till 2018 before the state goes to polls.
The AICC, which is also affected by series of setbacks starting with the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, is undecided as far as a change of leadership in Meghalaya is concerned.
While there are other options like cabinet reshuffle in the three-year-old Congress led MUA-II government, the AICC is not inclined to the idea since those who will be affected in the reshuffle will again start the demand for change of leadership.
A Congress minister close to the Chief Minister said that it is high time at-least to re-adjust the portfolios among the existing ministers for better performance.
Party sources admitted that whether there is change of leadership or not in CLP,  it will be a gigantic task for the Congress to ensure the victory of the party in the 2018 polls.
