SHILLONG: KHADC chief P.N. Syiem on Wednesday slammed the State government for overlooking the KHADC when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was being entertained at the Khasi Heritage Village at Mawphlang, even though the heritage site falls under the jurisdiction of the KHADC.
“The State government should have informed the council. Even the Lyngdoh of Mawphlang had committed a mistake in not informing the KHADC, perhaps due to time constraints, but the government has failed to do its part,” he said.
HSPDP member Teilinia S. Thangkhiew expressed dismay that the KHADC was not informed of Modi’s visit.
“Despite the heritage village falling under the jurisdiction of the KHADC, the members were not given an opportunity to meet the Prime Minister,” she lamented.
