Lapang named in Indira Gandhi birth centenary celebration panel

New Delhi: MPCC president D.D. Lapang has been named in the high profile Indira Gandhi Birth Centenary Celebrations Committee which was constituted by party president Sonia Gandhi here on Thursday.
The 21 member committee headed by Gandhi herself includes Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Karan Singh, A.K. Antony, Mohsina Kidwai, Shivraj Patil, P. Chidambaram, Sushilkumar Shinde, Mallikarjun Kharge, Oscar Fernandes, Tarun Gogoi and Mizoram Chief Minister Lalthanhawla.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has been made the convener of the Indira Gandhi Birth
Centenary Celebrations Implementation Committee, constituted by the Congress president. Former Union ministers Mani Shankar Aiyar and Anand Sharma are co-conveners of the committee which has AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik as secretary. AICC general secretaries, in charges and heads of frontal organisations will be ex-officio members of the celebrations committee.
Party leaders Ajay Maken, Priya Dutt, Milind Deora, Imran Kidwai and D.K. Shiva Kumar are also in the 12 member panel.
Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was born on November 19, 1917.
