SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma can perhaps follow the example of his cabinet colleague and Deputy Chief Minister RC Laloo to make an apology if he arrives late next time in any public function.
The Chief Minister is known for arriving very late for the official functions though he had never apologized for the same.
Laloo, however, has set an example for the Chief Minister that there should not be any hesitation to apologize to the audience for the delay in arriving at the venue.
Laloo before delivering his address during the function to inaugurate the golden jubilee of the Shillong Commerce College on Friday had first apologized to the students and others gathered in the auditorium for arriving 15 minutes late to the function The function was scheduled to start at 12.30 pm, but the Deputy Chief Minister arrived at the college at around 12.45 pm as he was stuck due to the traffic snarl.
While apologizing for his late arrival, Laloo said that he was concerned after he saw in the invitation card that the students and the guest were told to remain seated by 12 noon.
Laloo said that he always tried to reach the venue on time wherever he is invited since he did not like to keep people waiting.
Recently,  the Chief Minister  had kept the students and teachers of the KJP Higher Secondary School, Shillong waiting  for more than an hour. However, he did not apologize.
The Chief Minister instead was in the news as he had shed tears during the function as he was deeply touched by the Khasi gospel sung by a student in the function.
