SHILLONG: The FKJGP has alleged that a stone quarry at Pommura has destroyed the rivers and the aqua life in the river and has also cautioned locals at the stone quarry to clean up the refuse dumped at the river to save the river from getting polluted further, a statement issued here said. The organization is not against stone quarrying as it is a means of livelihood but the people engaged in the work must take into account the overall well-being of the village particularly as it endangers the fishes in the river, it added.
