SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma remark stating that Uranium Corporation of India will mine uranium at its own risk and the statement of Shillong MP Vincent Pala, slamming NGOs was criticized by HYC vice president, Nickson Dohling, who demanded their resignation as CM and MP respectively.
In a statement issued to the press, Dohling said that the CM contradicted his recent statement that he blamed the KHADC over the delay in implementing the two lane road project. “The above statement seems to reveal that he has already given the green signal to UCIL to mine uranium,” he said, adding that the CM should have voiced a clear ‘no to uranium mining in Meghalaya’ if he has a responsibility towards the people of the state.’
Moreover, making a sarcastic comment against Pala and Congress, he said, “Pala won the election from Congress party which is known as the ‘University of Thieves’ and the reputation of the Congress party is declining after the people gave them ‘bad character certificate’.
Dohling questioned as to how will the opposition of NGOs affect development in the state whereas he alleged that the Congress party is to be blamed for sluggish developmental activities that has affected the state and the country as a whole.
