SC lawyer from state to help NE students in Delhi

SHILLONG: In the wake of the death of a trainee nurse from Shillong,  Iahunlang Lyngdoh in New Delhi and other related incidents, a meeting was organized by Delhi Police on Saturday under its ‘Helping Hands’ initiative.
The meeting was presided over by Robin Hibu the Joint Commissioner of Special Police Unit for Women and Children and a Nodal Officer for the people of North East, Delhi.
Eminent persons including doctors, engineers, educationists, businessmen, legal experts, film directors, film producers, and actors across the country attended the meeting.
Hibu highlighted the problems being faced by the people from the Northeast and ways and means of addressing their concerns.
Daniel Stone Lyngdoh, a Supreme Court lawyer who has been interacting with North East students in the past following many incidents involving them in Delhi was selected as the Monitoring Officer of the Legal cell of the ‘Helping Hands’ undertaken by the North East cell of  Delhi Police.
Lyngdoh was earlier appointed as a member of legal matters as per the report of Bezbaruah Committee on Northeast.
Helping Hands, a branch of the North East cell of Delhi Police was successful in its endeavour to help the people of Northeast as around 47 private hospitals in Delhi have given their commitments for medical concessions for the people of Northeast, who are not government servants.
