SHILLONG: The executive committee (EC) of the Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri U Hynniewtrep (SNSBH) has informed that at least 10 localities in and around the city have resolved to oppose the MUDA’s alleged encroachment in Sixth Scheduled areas.
The decision was taken after MUDA notified the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme allowing locals to avail affordable housing solutions.
The EC received letters from the traditional heads of the 10 areas of Mawlai, Pynthorumkhrah, Nongmynsong, Mawpat, Umpling, Nongthymmai, Madanryting, Nongkseh, Umlyngka and Lawsohtun who were averse to implementation of any of the MUDA schemes in the Scheduled areas.
The issue of MUDA’s alleged encroachment in Scheduled areas has not been resolved till date as the State Government is yet to call the aggrieved  parties for talks.
The SNSBH, meanwhile, said that the matter will be followed up and that it has written to the state government to speed up talks with the organization on the MUDA “encroachment issue” at the earliest.
