ASWA calls on CM to address ANM workers’ grievances

TURA: The A’chik Students’ Welfare Association (ASWA) has urged Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to look into the grievances being faced by the Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM), female health workers of the state.
In its memorandum submitted to Sangma the ASWA demanded permanent appointment of those ANM workers who have been serving under contractual basis for more than three years according to seniority before they cross the prescribed age limit.
It also demanded among others, the scrapping of the new recruitment rules for those who have been serving for a long period and to restore the old formula for the old batch of ANM workers.
“The age limit should be relaxed at the time of regularization or appointment for old batch trainees as their ages have increased due to the department’s failure to appoint them as per batch wise seniority,” it said.
The ASWA sought that preference is given to passed-out trainees under government quota for appointment either on contractual or regular basis.
