Importance of research highlighted at Tura book release

 TURA: A book that focuses on the problems faced by educationists and school going children in Meghalaya and seeks ways to rectify it was released at Don Bosco College, Tura on Friday afternoon in the presence of academicians and teachers.

The book titled “Problems of education in Meghalaya” has been brought out by the author Dr Uma Bhowmik, Head of the education Department in the college.

The book on education and the twin journals were released by Dr. Jyotirmoy Prodhani, Head of English Department in NEHU, Tura Campus.

Speaking at the release of the book of educational problems, Prodhani said it is of immense importance for research on problems of education in the state.

“Dr Bhowmik’s book will make tremendous impact in the policy decision of the stakeholders,” he said.

Giving a brief talk on the history of education and writing he mentioned the notion of writing in western philosophy from Greek philosophers to modern philosophers and on post-colonialism writings.

Coming back to the region and its writings he said Qit is of great importance for writing in the north-east so as to establish intellectual significance of the region.

The program also coincided with the release of two journals titled Source and Transient.
