SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Agricultural Students and Graduates Association (MASGA) met Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Wednesday to demand resumption of the recruitment process for those who have passed out of college.
Speaking to reporters, president of the association Baiar Nongbri said that though the students have signed a bond of five years for recruitment in government offices, no vacancies have been declared. “It has been 8 years since the department of agriculture witnessed the last recruitment,” he said.
FKJGP calls for repair of Mawphlang-Lyngiong-Weiloi road
The FKJGP met the Chief Minister and demanded that the dilapidated Mawphlang-Lyngiong-Weiloi stretch be repaired. FKJGP’s Mawlai circle president Marbud Dkhar said that the farmers of the region are suffering as the damaged road makes it difficult for them to transport their agricultural produce to the markets. “A public meeting will be convened to raise the issue of the poor road condition at Mawsynram,” he added.
The Chief Minister informed that a tender notice has already been floated in this regard.
Meanwhile, Dkhar said that reacting to the federation’s demand for upgrading the Mawsynram C&RD block to a Civil Sub-Division, Sangma agreed to convene a meeting on the issue.
The FKJGP also demanded the state government to start a cable car network from Sohra to Mawsynram.
