SHILLONG: UDP legislator Embhahlang Syiemlieh met Urban and Municipal Affairs Minister Ronnie Lyngdoh on Thursday to urge him to permit the KHADC to regulate constructions of buildings outside Municipal areas.
According to Syiemlieh, since the KHADC had passed the KHAD Land Development and Building Regulation, 2015, it would be ideal for the Council to implement the byelaws in areas outside the Municipality. Syiemlieh also wanted the government to relax the rate imposed for obtaining the occupancy certificate for buildings outside Municipality.
The Minister assured that the points raised by the legislator will be examined even as he said that the government will come up with an alternate agency to look after the areas beyond the jurisdiction of Municipality.
