TURA: Travelling Players, a four-day children’s film festival, started in Tura on Monday with the screening of two films.
The festival has been organised by the Children’s Film of Society India which has partnered with Cine Darbar here. A Mizo film, Kima’s Lode-Beyond the Class, and a Latvian drama, Mother I Love You, were screened on Day 1 of the festival at the District Auditorium.
Kima Lode is a 75-minute film directed by Zuala Chhangte and produced by CFSI. The movie, which was shot in Mizoram, is the story of a boy who experiences one adventure after another in his everyday life.
Kima Lode won the Best Regional Film Award at the 63rd National Film Awards in March this year.
The Latvian film, Mother I Love You, is about a 12-year-old boy Raimonds (played by Kristofers Konovalovs) who happens to be a skilled saxophonist and also a troublemaker by choice.
Though he tends to misbehave, Raimonds is a smart boy who has a solution to every problem.
The film was selected as the Latvian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards in Los Angeles but lost out on the nomination.
The film festival here was inaugurated by retired joint secretary to the State Government, Ronald S Sangma, who in his message to the young audience said films help children to learn and analyse storylines and the character portrayed in different categories. He also advised the children present at the screening to avoid peer pressure among their groups and overcome stage frights and shyness.
Other dignitaries at the screening were Satya Raj Rai, North East head, Ayush Rajput, Project Planner and (Contd on P-10)
