NONGSTOIN: The Khasi Student Union, West Khasi Hills District Unit along with the KSU girl’s wing in a joint press conference held at Nongstoin on Friday, has announced a public rally on October 5 to condemn the increase of crimes against women in the District.
The rally will start from Nondein at 10 AM and it will conclude at Nongstoin market followed by a public meeting.
Iadei Khongmalai and John Fishar Nongsiang said that West Khasi Hills District is the only district where crime against women is increasing daily. The KSU, they said, is finding ways to solve this problem and to bring about security to women and children in the whole district.
“The rally will create awareness about the increasing sexual harassment and domestic violence in various forms which does not even spare children and one’s  own off-springs and blood relatives, despite having so many laws to prevent such inhuman acts, “ Khongmalai said during the press conference.
Both the leaders request all the youths, Sengsamla Shnong, NGOs, traditional heads, school students, teachers and parents to take part in the rally in order to discuss the issues related to the rise of crimes against women.
