TURA: Gambegre Block in West Garo Hills, which has reportedly been without a Block Development Officer (BDO) for over five months now, is facing numerous problems in its functioning. The Hill People’s Federation (HPF), a local NGO, recently met the deputy commissioner and apprised him about the state of affairs in the block. The HPF also made an appeal for a new BDO.
Members of the HPF said the absence of a BDO is mainly affecting MGNREGA workers as the APO and the Department concerned could not release money. “People in the block are facing difficulties as official work is being delayed. We request you to send a new BDO to the block at the earliest,” HPF President Tolling M Sangma said in a proposal submitted to the DC.
