CCIB meeting
The Coordination Committee on International Border (CCIB) will hold a public meeting on October 1 at 11 am at Dawki. The Committee has urged the traditional heads to attend the meeting.
Dry Day
The Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Khasi Hills has declared October 2  as dry day on account of  Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
Solidarity
The Garo Students Union (Khasi Hills Zone) remembered the victims of the September 30, 2005 tragedy in which nine innocent civilians lost their lives during a peaceful rally. The GSU stated that it was a ‘Black Friday’ and the victims will be remembered for their sacrifice.
Health camp
On the occasion of World Heart Day, Rotary Club orchid city Shillong on Thursday organised a free camp for  ecg, lipid profie, bp and blood sugar for the people. Later, a talk show regarding heart disease was conducted by Dr Amit Malviya, cardiologist NEIGRIHMS, and Dr D Bhuyan from Nazareth hospital.
Food festival
The Jail Road Durga Puja Committee will organise a food festival on October 2 at 4 pm at Jail Road Puja Mandap premises. The organizers have urged people to attend.
Cleaning drive
The Pynthorbah Durga Puja Committee in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong will conduct a cleaning drive in and around the vicinity of Pdeng Shnong, Golf Link from 8 am to mark Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
The Shillong Cantonment Board will organize a cleaning drive from 6:30 am on September 30 in Ward No IV, V, VI and VII, Jhalupara.
Inauguration
Reach Shillong Ministries will inaugurate the Open Shelter- a 24-hour crisis management centre for children in need of care and protection at Umkdiat, Nongmynsong. T. Dkhar, Commissioner and Secretary, Social Welfare will be the Chief Guest.
