SHILLONG: The Meghalaya People United Front (MPUF) has cried foul over the demand for transfer of West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Arun Kumar Kembhavi on the grounds that he worked against the welfare of the people.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday the MPUF said, “We have seen several changes (in the district) including the execution of the long pending Karulia bridge project, proper management of wastes by the Municipality etc., after his posting. It is surprising to see some people with vested interests looking at him as an obstruction.” The Coordination Committee of International Border has demanded the transfer of the DC stating that he went against the wishes of the people by surveying the Indo-Bangla border without consulting the land owners.
