Govt terms KSU statement as baseless

 SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has taken strong exception of the remarks made by the President of KSU, North Khasi Hills that the incumbent Chief Minister cares only for Garo Hills.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the Government termed the statement as baseless, misleading, irresponsible and totally uncalled for. JAC member and KSU North Khasi Hills president Donkupar Sumer who is spearheading the movement against the government on the issue of four laning had stated that the Chief Minister does not bother for any issue pertaining to the Khasi and Jaintia Hills.

According to the press release, the Government under the leadership of Dr Mukul Sangma is making, and will continue to make, all efforts to address the problems of the people of the State as a whole.The Government will continue to work so as to ensure overall welfare and development of the State, regardless of the area and region,” the press release added.

The NGOs of Ri Bhoi under the banner of Joint Action Committee (JAC) is spearheading the movement against the State Government’s decision of constructing the four laning road from the existing Umsning road.
