SHILLONG: A woman from the city was stabbed to death by a stalker at MG Road Metro Station in New Delhi on Monday.
A Delhi police officer, who is investigating the case, said the incident happened between 9:30 and 10 am on Monday when one Jitender stabbed Pinki Devi, who was from Lumparing and worked in a beauty parlour at Rohini in New Delhi, multiple times on her face, neck, abdomen and hands.
The police officer said Jitender, an auto driver, was caught and beaten up by the public before he was handed over to the police. Pinky’s destination from the metro station is yet to be ascertained, said the officer.
Pinky’s husband Man Singh said the accused had been stalking her for a long time. “He would often call her and even me and threaten to take her away from me,” said Man Singh, who works at a pantry in Gurgaon.       The accused had a scuffle with Man Singh two months ago but the matter was not reported to the police. They lived in Sirhaul village in Delhi.
Minutes before the attack, Pinky had called her husband and told him that the accused was following her. Following Monday’s attack, she was taken to Civil Hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Police also said a case has been registered against the accused under Section 302 and the arms Act.
Pinky had divorced her first husband and married Man Singh three years ago. She has a son from her first marriage.
