SHILLONG: Complaints have come to the fore against the decision of the State government to hold by-polls to councils on December 13.
B R Thabah, president of Meghalaya Ad hoc Upper Primary School Teachers’ Association, said the teachers will be busy correcting examination papers in the second week of December. Moreover, it is a harvesting season and many residents will not be free, which will also affect the process of election.
“The time chosen by the government for holding the by-election is unacceptable as this will clash with the day-to-day activities of the people,” said Thabah, who hails from Rambrai that also goes to the polls on December 13.
