SHILLONG: With the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) filing a Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the Supreme Court, the High Court, which was to open the CBI report into the recruitment scam on Thursday, listed the matter for hearing after 15 days.
The Court had on June 16 ordered a CBI probe after one of the job aspirants, Millon Ch Momin, filed a writ petition questioning the legality of the result of interviews conducted by MPSC between December 15 and 17, 2014, for the post of junior MPS officers in the Home (Police) department.
The petitioner (Millon Ch Momin) had questioned the fairness of the process adopted by MPSC and alleged that he was not on the select list despite securing higher marks than four Garo candidates.
However, during the hearing on Thursday, the counsel on behalf of MPSC, S. Thapa, filed an affidavit and submitted that they had filed the SLP before the Apex Court against the High Court’s order to open the CBI report before both the parties.
Though the Superintendent of Police, CBI, was present, the Court said his personal appearance was temporarily dispensed but he may be called in future as and when required.
During the hearing, senior counsel SP Mahanta and counsel A. Thungwa, were present on behalf of the petitioner.
Besides, NG Shylla was present on behalf of the State while Counsel AG Momin was present on behalf of the private respondents.
