SHILLONG: After resigning from the United Democratic Party (UDP), former Cabinet minister John Anthony Lyngdoh is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday.
Confirming the news, BJP Meghalaya president Shibun Lyngdoh said some more people were set to join the party but refused to divulge further details.
Lyngdoh, who joined the UDP on September 11, 1997, submitted his resignation to party president Donkupar Roy last month.
The UDP had clarified Lyngdoh did not quit the party due to any internal conflict but was not assured of his victory from Mawphlang constituency and wanted to contest from Jaiaw (North Shillong) constituency.
Meanwhile, the BJP president also informed that Fenela Lyngdoh Nonglait has joined the party.
The new entrants will be welcomed into the party at a felicitation programme to be held in the city on Tuesday.
