SHILLONG: Former health and family welfare minister AL Hek on Monday filed an FIR against unknown persons “for spreading rumours” that he was distributing money in Pynthorumkhrah, his constituency, as well as in other constituencies.
In the FIR submitted to the East Khasi Hills SP, the MLA said hundreds of people were queuing up at his residence everyday “from morning till midnight” following the rumour that he was distributing Rs 5,000 to each person.
“This rumour is creating unwanted misunderstanding among people and destabilising my daily work,” he said even as he suspected that this rumour is a fraudulent act of some party trying to tarnish his image in the public.
Speaking to media persons after filing the FIR, Hek said he has no black money and that he had no idea which party was trying to defame him before the public.
“So far 600-700 people have visited my home saying I am distributing Rs 5,000, which is not at all true and this is fabricated,” he said.
Hek, who is also the vice president of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Party (MPCC), urged the police to investigate and look into the matter at the earliest.
