Bar licence
Applications for temporary bar licence should be submitted at least 10 working days prior to the commencement of the programme/event. This arrangement is made as per Commissioner of Excise’s order, dated September 27.

Film screening
The Department of English with the Digital Aided Learning Club, LSLA, Lady Keane College,in collaboration with the British Council in India, screened one of the most celebrated film adaptations of Shakes-peare’s classic tragedy ‘King Lear’ on Thursday for the college students in continuation of the British Council’s global comme-moration of Shakespeare’s 400th death anniversary.

The Weighbridge of Majai, East Khasi Hills District belonging to Bastad Mawlong has been notified to issue weighment certificates to lime stones and other commodities (barring coal) laden vehicles that should pass through the weighbridge for a period of 1 year and until further orders. This was informed by the Under Secretary to the State Transport Department.

Prohibition
For the conduct of free and fair election to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council Bye-Election 2016, the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills has issued an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting all contesting candidates from wall writing or defacement in any form or erecting of cutouts etc in public property.
