SHILLONG: The State Forest department has come under scanner for not acting against exporters who use challans from Lumshnong instead of those challans from Dawki which have international value to export limestone.
Sources said on Sunday that though it is not legal to use challans from a different area, the Forest department has not acted against such illegal practice.
According to sources, the declared stock of limestone in Nongtalang for export to Bangladesh is almost over, and only a few exporters are still in possession of stocks and forest challans.
But the exporters who have exhausted all forest challans are illegally utilising domestic challans from Lumshnong, which have less value for export.
