TURA: SSA teachers and 4th teachers from the Garo Hills region are contemplating a democratic agitation against the State Government’s failure to enhance their salaries as approved by the Ministry of Human Resources Development.
The 238th meeting of the Approval Board of the SSA was held on April 22 this year in New Delhi in which the MHRD had approved the proposed enhanced amount. As per the approval, the enhanced salary for Upper Primary and Lower Primary SSA teachers would be Rs 20,493 and Rs 19,044, respectively.
Earlier on November 8, the AGHSSALP and UPSTA had given the Education Minister time till November 21 to hike their salaries.
With the government failing to meet the deadline, the teachers have announced an all-out agitation in the Garo Hills region, the date for which will be notified shortly. The 4th teachers’ long-pending demand for salary enhancement is also not fulfilled.
