SHILLONG: An IIM Shillong student was found dead in her room here on Monday.
The student, Shalini S Raju (28), from Kerala’s Kollam district, is suspected to have committed suicide by hanging herself in her room at the IIM women’s barrack at Lawjynriew in Nongthymmai, police said.
SP (City) Vivek Syiem said Shalini, who was a student of the one-year Post-Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX), joined the course on October 6.
The body was found at 11.15 am and police found two suicide notes from her room that was locked from inside. “In the suicide notes, she did not blame anyone and apologised to her family for taking such a decision and stated that it was due to personal reasons,” Syiem said.
The family will arrive here on Tuesday.
After the FSL team visited the spot, an unnatural death case was registered and the body was sent to NEIGRIHMS for postmortem which will be carried out on Tuesday.
