Two held for assault

 SHILLONG: Police arrested two people for assaulting a shopkeeper at Iewduh on Thursday evening.

The duo was identified as Kevin Nongbri (20) of Law-Usib, Pohkseh and Aibor Kharpran (21) of Nongthymmai.

According to police, the two accused, who were in an inebriated condition, went to have eggs in the shop of one Md. Ismail Hussain. After having the eggs, the two tried to run away without paying. On seeing this, police said that the owner of the shop stopped them and asked them to pay the money. The two then assaulted Hussain and he was badly injured in the incident, police informed. Hussain was taken to Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment.
