Discipline, commitment key to success: Army chief

SHILLONG: Army chief General Dalbir Singh on Sunday said discipline and total commitment should be the key to success in the armed forces.
Addressing the soldiers of the 58 Gorkha Training Centre 58 (GTC) at a Sainik Sammelan here, Singh said that though Indian Army is second to none in the world, there is a need to have discipline and total commitment which will only ensure success.
Expressing satisfaction at the overall performance of 58 GTC, Gen Singh said that the Centre is capable of facing new challenges.
The Regimental Centre is the winner of various gallantry awards and the army chief mentioned the Unit Citation conferred to 58 GTC for 2014-15, which was an achievement, as it speaks about the high standards of training and discipline of the troops at the Centre.
The army chief appreciated the contribution of the outstanding soldiers and felicitated them by bestowing the commendation cards to them.    The 5th reunion of 58 GTC, which started on December 5, concluded on Sunday. The reunion brought both the serving and retired army officers, JCOs and jawans together to rededicate themselves to the unity and integrity of the country.
Apart from many senior retired Army officers, President Gorkha Brigade and Colonel 5 GR (FF), Major General Hemant Joneja, Colonel 8 GR, Brig RS Thakur, Commandant 58 GTC and all Commanding Officers of 5 GR (FF) and 8 GR participated in the concluding day function. The officers and soldiers laid wreaths at the war memorial early on Sunday morning in memory of those who had laid down their lives for the sake of the country.
