SHILLONG: The Thma U Rangli Juki (TUR) has expressed concern over a proposed interactive session of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to be held at the North Eastern Council Secretariat auditorium here on Thursday.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the TUR said the NEC Secretariat auditorium is a government space which is meant for official ‘secular’ programmes and should not be allowed to be hired for non government events.
“It is surprising that the RSS, whose vision is that of a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ is permitted to hold a programme in a government office,” the TUR said and added that the alleged decision of the NEC to allow the programme to be held on its premises is a clear violation of the constitutionally sanctioned secular fabric of the nation where the distinction between state and religion has to be maintained.
When contacted, the NEC PRO said that he had no information about any such programme even as he added that no official permission has been sought for holding the event.
Meanwhile, the TUR also expressed concern over an RSS training programme conducted for its male members in a girls’ school, Balika Vidyalaya, from December 3-10.
