Assam Rifles DG to maintain ‘friendly relation with hill people’

SHILLONG: Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan, who recently took over as the Director General of Assam Rifles, has said that his priority would be to “continue being a friend of the hill people”.
Speaking to media persons at DGAR on Wednesday, Lieutenant General Chauhan said that he would make sure that the Assam Rifles sticks to its values of valour, courage and sacrifice which the force has followed since its inception.
“My priority will be to ensure that the good work which my predecessors have done for the force continues,” he told reporters and added that he would focus on resolving the problems faced by the Assam Rifles personnel.
Replying to a query, he said that all sectors of the force are important. Lieutenant General Chauhan assumed the appointment as the 19th DG of Assam Rifles on December 12.
