ABVP team from State participates in Indore meet

SHILLONG: The independent Meghalaya State Committee of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad for the first time participated in the 62nd ABVP National Conference in Indore.
The Committee has been formed with Darling Tang as the state secretary and this year, 103 delegates from Meghalaya are participating in the ongoing National Conference in Indore.
It may be mentioned that 10,000 delegates from all over India and representatives of all the students’ union from Nepal are participating in the four-day conference that will continue till December 27. It was inaugurated by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and noted dancer Sonal Mansingh.
The inauguration was followed by Yaswant Rao Kelkar Youth Award ceremony where noted social activist from Manipur, R.K Biswajit Singh, was awarded the Best Youth Award 2016 for working in the field of drug addiction in the North East.
Several meetings and rallies on various social issues are also part of the conference. Three resolutions on education, nation and youth for ‘Social Discrimination and Poverty-Free India’ have been passed in the conference.
Also, this year 14 ABVP delegates from Meghalaya participated in the SEIL tour, the flagship programme of the ABVP, and celebrated its golden jubilee.
