SHILLONG: Eight underprivileged families from various districts of Khasi and Jaintia hills including single mothers and differently-abled persons were given assistance in the form of blankets, mattresses, utensils and other household items by the ‘Committee Iarap ia Kiba Duk Tam’ in collaboration with Rupang, a vernacular daily, at Mawkhar Christian Higher Secondary School here on Tuesday.
This is the 6th year that the committee has offered assistance to the needy.
Earlier, secretary of the committee, Babu Kular Khongjirem informed that the total collection through donation from individuals has hit an all time high of Rs. 41, 220 as compared to Rs. 33,870 last year.
