Monday blues over ATMs not dispensing Rs 500 notes

SHILLONG: The increase in the limit of ATM withdrawals to Rs 4,500 has come with its limitations to the people of the State. Several citizens were left befuddled when they tried to withdraw the amount but found none of the ATMs is dispensing Rs 500 notes. When contacted, an SBI official admitted that Rs 500 notes are available only at counters and not in ATMs. “Rs 500 notes will be dispensed tomorrow (on Tuesday) as today (Monday) Shillong received some notes from RBI,” the official said and added that with increased supply, Rs 500 will be made available in the ATMs as well.
