Nine injured in accidents across the State

SHILLONG:  A vehicle (Hyundai Verna) proceeding towards Shillong from Guwahati drove over the road divider when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a Mahindra Scorpio coming from the opposite direction on Saturday evening at Pahamrioh under Umling Block, Ri Bhoi district. The injured, one Uma Shankar (32), who was the occupant of the Hyundai Verna was shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
In another incident, a motorist heading towards Dawki from Guwahati was involved in a collision with a Maruti Alto coming from the opposite direction at Rngain under Pynursla Block on Saturday afternoon. The injured identified as Arup Kalita (23) was shifted to Laitlyngkot PHC and then to Shillong Civil Hospital.
Yet again on the same day afternoon, five occupants of a Chevrolet SUV vehicle sustained injuries when their vehicle collided into a wall near the BSNL office at IGP in city.
The injured identified as Lambert Marwein (22), Jonas Myrthong (22), Rafilus Pohtme (20, Kitbok Nongrum (20) and Robert Nongrum (22) were shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.
In another incident on Friday night, a truck collided with a Maruti Alto coming from the opposite direction while it was in the process of overtaking another truck.
The driver along with a co-passenger of the Maruti Alto sustained injuries during the collision which happened on the Shillong by-pass at Mawpun under Umsning Block. The injured Papas Debbarman (24) who was the driver and Solomon Chongli (25) were rushed to Bhoirymbong CHC.
In all these cases, the 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based in respective places helped in shifting the injured to the hospitals.
