SHILLONG: Former legislator Adolf Lu Hitler R Marak will contest from the Congress in the 2018 Assembly polls.
Marak said on Sunday that he will ensure his win from the Congress from Bajengdoba. He also hoped that the party will emerge victorious yet again in 2018.
In the last Assembly polls in 2013, Marak who contested from the Congress from Bajengdoba, lost to Independent candidate Brigady Marak who won by a narrow margin of over 200 votes.
In the 2008 Assembly polls, Marak, who contested from NCP, had defeated Congress’s Zenith Sangma from Rangsakona seat.
However, earlier in 2003, Marak had unsuccessfully contested from Rangsakona against Zenith whose victory margin, however, was only over 300 votes.
Meanwhile, in response to a news report in the context of the arrest of legislator Julius Dorphang, Marak clarified that he was arrested by the police for his alleged nexus with ANVC when he was a former legislator and not as sitting MLA as reported.
