Final electoral rolls distributed in East and West Jaintia Hills

JOWAI: The final photo electoral rolls for Nartiang, Jowai, Raliang and Mowkaiaw Assembly constituencies were handed over to the representatives of political parties on Tuesday.
Additional deputy commissioner S.C Laloo said names of young voters who turned 18 on January 1 and who enrolled themselves have also been included. He also requested the representatives to go through the lists for any correction.
Extra Additional Commissioner B.J Kharshandi said after the summary revision of the rolls, the number of voters has gone up by 3,517 taking the total number of electorate in the district, excluding Amlarem, to 1,24,319.
Meanwhile, the office of the deputy commissioner will conduct an array of events from January 17 to mark National Voters’ Day on January 25. The theme of the programme, to be held at Thomas Jones Synod College here, will be ‘Empowering Young and Future Voters’. Also, newly registered voters will be felicitated on January 25.
