JOWAI: The 13-year-old boy who was apprehended by Jowai police for attempting rape on a nine-year-old girl on Monday at Shangpung mission village is a habitual offender. The boy was later handed over to Childline.
The girl’s mother lodged a complaint stating that the boy had lured the girl and took her to a place called Lum Kseh Ionglaw at Shangpung Mission and attempted to rape her.
The same boy was apprehended last November for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl and attempting to rape another seven-year-old at Iawthymme (New market) in Jowai. When he was first apprehended by the police, he was handed to Childline but he escaped the next day.
