SHILLONG: The BJP National General Secretary in charge Northeast and Kashmir, Ram Madhav, met State party president Shibun Lyngdoh on Sunday and discussed the political situation in Meghalaya as well as the need to revamp BJP in view of the Assembly polls scheduled for the early part of 2018.
Lyngdoh said the visit of Madhav to Shillong was just a stopover from Arunachal and since the flight to Delhi from Guwahati was in the evening, he spent some time in Shillong.
“We had a one on one discussion on the state affairs, and also how to go about strengthening the organisational structure of the party. After the Manipur polls, the next focus of the central    leaders will be Meghalaya,” Lyngdoh said.
The meeting also analysed the setback to the party during the last bypolls to the seven district council seats.
“He (Madhav) wants to complete the organisational structure of the party. According to him, every district should have a BJP office as only 11 months are left for the Meghalaya Assembly polls and we will be fast enough to revamp the party,” Lyngdoh said.
Other issues that were discussed in the meeting are the concerns over Meghalaya not having a youth policy and the need to have fast rack courts since so many cases of crime against women are pending in court.
