SHILLONG: The Sutnga Area Coal Miners & Dealers Association (SACMDA) has resented the alleged practice of dual treatment when it comes to truck load.

The SACMDA alleged that their coal laden trucks plying within Meghalaya are required to follow the Notification which restricts truck load to not more than nine tonnes of coal. On the contrary, those trucks carrying cement within Meghalaya, exporting or bringing goods into the State are not required to follow the said notification. There are instances where those cement loaded trucks are allowed to carry more than 20 tonnes. Apart from cement, there are other materials exceeding nine tonnes plying on the roads, but no penalty or action has been taken against them. The SACMDA has asked for a balanced approach to do away with such a dual approach to truck load.
