Now teer counter agent held in sex-racket case

SHILLONG: Another accused in the sex-trafficking case involving the 14-year-old girl was arrested on Tuesday.The arrested Hussain Ali, a teer counter agent, who had allegedly raped the minor, was hiding in a house at Wakhadiat Block B in East Khasi Hills. He was arrested when locals alerted police about his hideout.With Ali in police custody, the number of people arrested rose to 12. Some more arrests are likely to be made in connection with the case. Those who were arrested in connection with the case include Mawhati legislator Julius Dorphang, his aide and surrendered HNLC cadre Elbert Shemphang Kharlukhi alias Kesop, the waiter of Marvelene’s Inn, Usha Deb Barman, the main trafficker Mamoni Parveen and her husband Sandip Biswa, Mamoni’s house owner Wanlambok Khongsit (Jhandu), Mamoni’s accomplices Tarisha Mary Kharbamon and Mona Lisa Shangpliang, Madan Bahadur Thapa who abused the girl at Marvelene’s Inn, 66-year-old Kentli Tangsang and Nirdesh Jain (Appu), a petrol pump worker.
