SHILLONG: The construction of the regional cancer institute at NEIGRIHMS will start soon as the project paper work is in the final stage.
NEIGRIHMS Director P. Bhattacharya said in a statement the construction of the building has been approved and the firm that will implement the project is preparing the final drawing.
“The tender has been floated and the consultant, who constructed NEIGRIHMS has handed over the project to L&T firm,” Bhattacharya said.
The firm has been given a three-year timeline to complete the project.
NEIGRIHMS is also planning to come up with a nursing institute and a 600-bed MBBS hostel alongside the 250-bed regional cancer institute with an estimated budget of more than Rs 300 crore.
The construction of the regional cancer institute in Shillong will be of great help as the number of cases in the North East is on the rise for the last few decades.
