SHILLONG: The disbanded ANVC-B on Wednesday accused the State Government of dividing the organisation’s leadership by appointing “pseudo chairman, commander-in-chief and general secretary”.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Achik Matgrik secretary Deepan G. Momin said the government’s attempt to divide the organisation by collecting the ANVC-B cadres’ account numbers and clandestinely finalising the list of beneficiaries of the surrender policy has been exposed.
“The State police forwarded a letter with the names and account numbers of 84 cadres of the organization, where the actual leaders’ names are missing, asking for account numbers of the remaining of the 139 cadres,” he added.
The disbanded group also said the leaders were kept in the dark and the names of the 139 cadres were never revealed to the leadership of the organization.
It accused the State Government of playing “dirty politics” with the former members of the ANVC-B by depriving them of their dues.
Momin said the Government adopted a corrupt policy to derail the implementation of the rehabilitation of the former cadres and it also slapped many new cases on them violating the contents of the agreement.
Stating that the Government has secretly collected the account numbers and tried to sideline the leadership of the organisation, the group added that the act was nothing but a desperate attempt to divide the organisation and to create confusion among the cadres.
The group, which held the State responsible for derailing the peace settlement, now wants a written explanation from the Government for its “dirty policies”.
“We want official meeting for clarification on delay of rehabilitation packages and the intention of the State Government,” the group said.
