SHILLONG: Education Minister Prof RC Laloo has declined to comment on the order passed by the Shillong Bench of the Gauhati High Court directing the CBI to probe into the alleged anomalies relating to the appointments of assistant teachers in Government Lower Primary schools in the State.

“I am aware about this order. But I would not be able to comment on this matter unless I have gone through the order,” Prof Laloo said on Saturday.

The Education Minister, however, informed that he had held discussions with the officials of both the Education and Law departments on this issue.

“We would be in a position to comment on the matter in details only when we have the order in our hand,” he added.

Earlier on Friday, Justice T Vaiphei had directed the CBI to inquire into the petitioners’ allegations and submit the inquiry report within three months from the date of receipt of the judgment.

Justice Vaiphei was adjudicating on a case of nine writ petitions filed by aggrieved applicants from various pockets of the State after information obtained through the RTI Act, 2005 brought to light various discrepancies and manipulation in the appointment of assistant teachers in Government LP schools in 2009-2010.
